How to Build a Magnetic Motor

Magnetic motors are a very good source of electricity. They do not cause pollution, and run by themselves without ever stopping. The construction of these motors sounds complicated, and that puts many people off from trying them out. However, the fact is that building a magnetic motor is quite easy if you have the correct instructions and the right tools. Even students can build their own magnetic motor in no time. Here is an outline of the steps required to build a magnetic motor:

1.Draw a line on a cork in such a way that it bisects it into two equal halves. Along this line, cut out a thin groove with a width of ½ centimeters, and a depth of ¼ centimeters.

2.Take a 22-gauge wire and wind it tightly around the cork, turning it at least 50 times.  Allow both ends of the wire to stick out on either side of the cork by one centimeter.

3.Use a pair of pliers to cut a thick sewing needle in half. Insert the needle inside the cork in such a way that it sticks out 3 cm from both the ends of the cork.

4.Tape the magnet wires to each end of the needle half.

5.Cut a sheet of cardboard into a strip of dimensions 9 inches by 3 inches. Measure the length of the needle from one end to the other, and subtract 4 cm from it. 4 cm is the length of the motor housing.

6.Stick the small button magnet in the center of the motor base. To allow the motor to spin freely, mark the spots to cut out holes for the needle ends.  Using scissors, cut out the holes you have marked on the side flaps.  

7.Sand off the insulation from 9 inches of wire on both ends and use a rivet gun to clamp rivets down onto the wire.

8.Place the needle in the centers of the rivet in such a way that they enclose the motor from top. Use duct tape to seal the flaps, allowing the motor to spin freely.

9.Attach the ends of the wire from the two rivets to a nine-volt battery to run the motor.

Building a magnetic motor is inexpensive. You can find all the required materials in a hardware store for less than $100. Once you have a good guidebook, building a magnetic motor is not difficult at all.
